The BeerGene is a web app which rates, catalogs and help beer lovers locate other beer drinkers, lovers and new brews. At any time, users can access the app to get a list of the top 100 beers trending on their app thus far. Additionally there are "Beer of the Day" listed on the site which helps users discover new beers that they might fall in love with. Users on the BeerGene app can find new beer-loving friends while they are discovering new beers and they can discuss their favorites with others. Also, in case a user goes to a brewhouse and they are unsure of what to order, they could access the BeerGene app on their Android or iPhone while they are on the go to get reviews on the varieties and make the most educated choice.
BrewGene was developed in the summer of 2008 by John Muggeridge. John is a graduate of MIT from 1980. Since, the app has grown thanks to the input and expertise of few of John's acquaintances and other beer lovers.
The BeerGene is an excellently designed app cataloging and providing much-needed and appreciated information on many of the different beers out there. It has been around for a couple years, so its database is pretty robust.
BeerGene is very easy to use and its community is very inviting. Beers catalogued on the site display a picture of the brew and the number of ratings and average number of stars that the beer has received. It also indicates some other beers that users might like if they enjoy this particular variety. There were no bugs or issues encountered during this review, and the site functioned as it should. It is well-designed and every beer searched for by this reviewer was catalogued which is impressive.
BrewGene is a free app to use. If users want to purchase a brew, they can do so through the app.
